Essay  Competition – CGEE

Centre for Gender Equity & Equality (CGEE), in collaboration with Organisation for Elangai Refugees Rehabilitation (OfERR Ceylon), has organized an essay competition (in three languages Tamil, Sinhala, and English)  among the Academic, Administrative Staff, and Students of the University of Jaffna on 30th of November 2021 in the Library Auditorium.

The purpose of the competition is to increase awareness and understanding and help in reducing the violence against women and designate the international day for the elimination of violence against women.

The second meeting of CGEE

The second meeting of CGEE

The second meeting of the first committee of CGEE /UOJ was held physically and virtually on 26th March 2021 at the University board room from 9.30 AM to 12 PM. The Vice-Chancellor presided over this meeting. It was decided to conduct awareness sessions(virtual) on ‘preventing SGBV’ as the faculty level programmes to freshers who had registered and waiting for orientation sessions. The status of the 16 complaints received by the CGEE after its establishment, were presented.  The grievance committee was requested to go back into those complaints to make final decisions. It was requested to conduct an awareness session to hostel sub-wardens on the title ‘how to prevent SGBV’ at the UOJ hostels. It was suggested to Redesign the website of CGEE, and current events and news would be sent to infor@univ.jfn.ac.lk.

It was informed that a need analysis to be conducted among the staff and students about the CGEE and SGBV. The pilot survey among the academic staff was designed as a google form and would be available next month. The awareness sessions to academic and non-academic staff, about the CGEE bylaws and policies, was decided to be conducted at each faculty.

CGEE conducted an  Awareness workshop for sub wardens, marshals,  on the 28th of April 2021 at the SDC seminar hall from 8.30 to 1 pm. 13 participants participated in this session.
